Ozonduno Hunting Ranch

Hunting on this African land is a true adventure. Ozonduno offers ethical hunting activities with a large range of African game species. Track hunting game one foot or by vehicle. We assist you with everything that you need for your hunt.

Ozonduno is a typical African Ranch of 12,000 Hectares (almost 30,000 Acres) which is a family owned Hunting Destination. Ozonduno is in the heart of Namibia’s bushfeld and only 20 kilometres out of the town. Otjiwarongo has good shopping, medical, dental and hospital facilities.

Consisting of mainly indigenous trees and shrubs with open grasslands, the terrain is mixed with rocky outcrops and medium mountains from which to view the endless vistas and the magnificent African sunset. Perennial rivers cut through the valleys with large trees providing welcome shade for game during the heat of the day. There are also 17 earth dams in the river valleys providing the source of life to the abundant game. Each dam also has camouflaged hides from which game and birds can be viewed, photographed and enjoyed.

The ranch has 25 different species available to hunt, from the typical Namibian species like the majestic Kudu, the sly Eland, Oryx, Hartebeest, Wildebeest and Zebra. Also the exotic Giant Sable, Roan Antelope, Red Letchwe and Nyala – to name but a few. The elusive Leopard, Cheetah and Brown Hyena can be hunted by special arrangement.

The ranch has Toyota 4x4 all terrain and fully equipped hunting vehicles, qualified hunting guides and the best local trackers at the disposal of your hunting party. Although the tour group size is not limited, we do limit the number of hunters to 6. Depending on the targeted species, popular rifle calibres preferred on the Ranch are the 300 Win. Mag., 375 and bigger. Any gratuities for the hunting guides and trackers are purely discretionary and are always greatly appreciated. Accommodation on the Ranch boasts 4 en suite fully serviced double rooms with the best hospitality and home comforts available. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided and a good selection of excellent South African wines compliments our delicious cuisine.

The accommodation is set in a beautifully luscious garden where partners and spouses can relax around the swimming pool or simply unwind with a good book. Our hunting season spans from beginning February to end November but the best months are from April to September. Usually October to November is hot and dry while February and March are hot with potential rainy weather (thunder storms). In the summer months, the daily hunting hours are limited due to the heat of the day and the game being less active. In the summer months hunting is therefore usually done from 06h00to 11h00 in the mornings and again from 16h30 to sunset (20h00 in mid-summer).

Although we typically dress for comfort and are very casual, the sun can be vicious in summer and even some days in winter. Sun block and a good wide brimmed hat is advisable throughout the year. Long trousers are always preferred in the bush as well as a good pair of hiking shoes (or boots). Evenings in winter are often cold and a good warm jacket will be required – even round the cosy log fire. Ozonduno is not in the malaria belt of Namibia and is disease free. Besides some snakes which can be active in the warm months, we are also free of any dangerous animals and security on the Ranch is of the safest in Africa.

Transfers to and from the Windhoek International Airport is done by our ranch personnel by road. Helicopter transfers to and from the Airport, as well as day trips, can be arranged by special request and quote.
